Garmin challenges with friends
Connect Garmin Connect once and every run, ride, swim and gym session lands on its own, scored into private challenges with friends on any device.
Any Garmin that syncs to Garmin Connect: Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, Instinct, Edge.
Setup
Connect once. That is the job.
Connect
Open Settings in the app, choose Garmin and sign in to Garmin Connect once.
Train as usual
Every activity Garmin records is sent over on its own. Nothing to export, nothing to type, nothing to remember on the way out of the gym.
Watch it score
Each sport carries a coefficient, so a kilometre on the road and twenty minutes under a bar are each worth what you would expect — on your own board and in every challenge you are in.
What syncs
Everything Garmin records,
under its own name.
Runs, rides, swims and walks land as distance. Gym sessions, yoga and sports land as minutes. Each arrives under the sport it was, so a challenge can count exactly the ones you choose.
Daily steps arrive only while you are in a challenge that counts them, so a day of walking never shows up as training you did not do.
Challenges
Set the terms. Settle it.
A challenge is private until you hand out the code. You pick the sports, the dates and what each is worth; Garmin does the reporting, and the board settles the rest.
-
Runs, rides, swims, gym time — count one sport or all of them.
-
Friends on any watch or phone are scored by the same rules.
-
Nothing is typed in, so nothing is rounded up.

Questions
Asked about Garmin
Does Outmuscle Me work with Garmin?
Yes. Connect your Garmin Connect account once and every activity your watch records is sent over as it syncs. Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, Instinct and Edge all work, because the link is with Garmin Connect rather than with one device.
Which Garmin activities count?
Runs of every kind — road, trail, track, treadmill and ultra, with hikes landing as running distance. Rides, including indoor and mountain biking. Walks, pool and open water swims, skiing and snowboarding, each measured in distance. Strength, HIIT and indoor cardio arrive as gym minutes, and yoga, pilates, climbing, tennis, football and basketball under their own names.
Do my Garmin steps count?
Only while you are in a challenge that counts steps. Outside one, your daily steps stay in Garmin Connect, so a day of walking around never turns into training you did not do.
Can friends without a Garmin join the same challenge?
Yes. Each person connects whatever they have — a Garmin, a Fitbit, a Wahoo, a Suunto, an Apple Watch or just a phone — and every activity is scored by the same rules, so a kilometre is worth the same kilometre whoever ran it.
Do I still have to log anything by hand?
Not what the watch records. Push ups, pull ups and anything else it does not time you can say out loud in the app or type in, and it counts the same as a synced session.
Is the Garmin integration free?
Yes. The athlete app is free, and so is connecting a device. Coaches pay for their workspace; the people they coach do not.
